ORECA PEUGEOT ADDED TO SEBRING WALL OF FAME
Oreca Team Matmut has been added to the prestigious Wall of Fame at the entrance to Sebring International Raceway. They join the list of previous winners at America's greatest sports car race following their historic victory this year in the Mobil Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida.
In addition, Oreca Peugeot and the French tricolors have been added to the facade of Sebring's pit structure, which displays every winner since 1952.
Oreca's Peugeot 908 HDI FAP was driven to victory by Nicolas Lapierre, Loic Duval and Olivier Panis.
Oreca Team Matmut team leader Hughes de Chaunac orchestrated a hard-fought win at Sebring in the opening round of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, becoming the first team in 25 years to qualify outside the top four positions and then win the race. Using perfect execution of their race strategy, the famed French team took the top step on the podium following a very competitive race that produced a record 31 lead changes among six different entries.
"We are honored to add the Oreca Peugeot team to our Wall of Fame," stated Sebring Raceway President and General Manager Tres Stephenson. "This historic achievement by the Oreca team will become another chapter in Sebring's remarkable history."
Next year's 60th Anniversary 12-hour will take place March 14-17, 2012.
