Miss 12 Hours 2015

Amber Jackson

Amber was born and raised in Sebring, Florida and is the daughter of Ida Jackson and the late Andrew Jackson. She is 27 years old and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with an independent study in sports psychology and motivation and a Minor of Art in Urban and Regional Planning. She went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine from UF with a residency in strength and conditioning and specialization in athletic training.

While attending Sebring High School, Amber was a Varsity cheerleader, in Varsity and Show Choir, sang in Europe with Ambassadors of Music, held office is Student Government, member of Mu Alpha Theta, was student advisor and involved at a local and national level with FFA including raising a steer, singing in the national FFA choir and competing and placing in creed, parliamentary procedure, agriculture communications and public speaking.

At the University of Florida, Amber was an Alpha Delta Pi sorority sister, a student athletic trainer for various UF teams, volunteer for Mission Healthy and habitat for humanity, member of the honor society and graduated Cum Laude. Being a part of the University sports programs during two football and two basketball national championships was an unbelievable experience for her.

After graduation, Amber created the first sports medicine program for Shands hospital Live Oak and provided athletic training to the Suwannee valley area. She taught anatomy and physiology for two years at Deland High school and was the athletic trainer for their 8A sports program. She was also the athletic trainer for Milford Academy football in upstate New York for their 2014 season. She is currently employed by Recovery Pump and is the southeast representative covering Florida, Georgia and Alabama in athletic rehabilitation and recovery equipment.

Amber isn't a stranger to a sash, she's held titles around the state of Florida and placed in the top 16 at Miss United States last summer. However, the Miss 12 hours title holds special meaning. Amber's older sister, Crystal, wore the crown in 2001. Amber has worked with Fast Lane Promotions and has been involved with or attended the races with family and friends for as long as she can remember. “I am so excited to represent my community at the races this year. It's such an honor. I can't wait for March and look forward and am grateful for the opportunity.”
