Tie Atop Prototype Tequila Patrón NAEC

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 26, 2014) – A pit stop by Jordan Taylor in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP moments before the 18-hour mark allowed Action Express Racing to not only lead the Rolex 24 At Daytona, but grab a share of the lead in the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

Leading the third of four segments gave Action Express 12 points at the end of three segments, matching the total of Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Wayne Taylor Racing is one point back, with 11. Ford and Chevrolet are tied for the lead in the Prototype Manufacturers standings with 13 points.

CORE AUTOSPORT WINS DAYTONA DEBUT OF PROTOTYPE CHALLENGE

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 26, 2014) – It was an instant classic for the debut of a new chapter in North American motorsports.

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup debuted with a record crowd and a thrilling finish in the 52nd Rolex 24 At Daytona, won by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Sebastien Bourdais in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP.

Charlie Earwood, 1924-2014

C.L. “Charlie” Earwood, a prominent driver, promoter and official for some of America's top sports car racing organizations, passed away Tuesday at his home in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was 89.

Earwood was an active member of the Sports Car Club of America from 1960, when he raced Porsches in E and F production classes. He went on to introduced his sons, Terry and Stephen, to the sport as well before transitioning out of the cockpit to focus on race management and organization. He went on to serve as chief steward at many of America's top road racing events.

Earwood served as an official at the SCCA National Runoffs at Road Atlanta from 1964 through 1993, and was chief steward for the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Daytona as well as for the SCCA Trans-Am Series, SCCA Truck Series, the Playboy Endurance Series, the F2000 Series and a wide variety of vintage racing series.
